HR Redesign Circle
A leadership design circle for HR managers and directors who want a more sustainable way to do meaningful HR work.
You know how to guide leaders, support employees, navigate risk, handle sensitive situations, and keep things moving when there is no perfect answer.
But HR is changing quickly.
The environment keeps evolving. HR has to evolve with it.
But that doesn’t mean you should simply absorb every new demand.
The HR Redesign Circle is a living design space for HR leaders who still care deeply about the work, but are starting to ask:
What would need to change for this work to become sustainable for me?
Companies are Asking More of Their HR Leaders Than They Used To
The mandate keeps expanding.
HR leaders are being asked to:
understand how AI will change jobs, skills, teams, and HR itself
help organizations restructure work and roles faster
navigate layoffs, reorganizations, and constant change
build manager capability while managers themselves are stretched
respond to changing employee expectations
address culture and engagement
protect the organization from risk
keep up with compliance and employee relations
become more strategic
and still handle the day-to-day work that never disappeared
The problem is that evolution is often handled as addition.
Something new becomes important? Add it.
A leader needs help? Add it.
New technology? Learn it.
New regulation? Own it.
A manager avoids something? HR steps in.
A culture problem appears? HR helps solve it.
Meanwhile, very little comes off the list.
And because you are capable, trusted, and good at handling hard things, you find a way.
Until you start wondering…
“I care about this work, but I don’t know if I can keep doing it this way.”
“I don’t want a different career as much as I want this one to stop taking so much out of me.”
“I want to stay in HR without losing so much of myself.”
Those are not small reflections.
They are signals that the way the work is currently designed may no longer fit you, your role, or the environment around you.
Being able to handle it isn’t the same as wanting to keep it this way.
Maybe the Question Isn’t Whether You Can Keep Up…
Maybe it’s what needs to be redesigned as the work changes?
The work keeps changing.
So do you.
That is why the HR Redesign Circle is not built around a fixed curriculum.
It is a living design space for HR leaders who want a place to keep examining what is working, what is getting heavy, and what needs to change next.
Design for now. Refine for what comes next.
Bring Real Problems
Maybe a manager keeps handing responsibility back to HR.
Maybe AI is changing the work faster than you can make sense of it.
Maybe you are tired of addressing the same culture problem in a different form.
Maybe your role has accumulated so much that you no longer know what should actually be yours.
Maybe something about the work simply does not fit the way it used to.
Bring that into the room.
You will have dedicated time to step out of reaction, see the pattern, hear how other experienced HR leaders are thinking about similar challenges, and design something different to try.
Then you take it back into real life.
When we meet again, we look at what happened.
What worked?
What changed?
What still needs attention?
What needs a different approach?
Design something worth trying. Learn from what happens. Refine from there.
HR keeps evolving. Good leadership design should too.
What Could Be Redesigned?
There is no prescribed version of good HR leadership waiting for you inside the Circle.
The work starts with the person and the problem in front of them.
You might redesign:
what keeps landing on you that should be shared or supported differently
how you use your strengths without allowing them to become the reason you carry everything
where you need stronger systems, skills, tools, or other people to supplement what does not come naturally
what your role is asking from you versus what you still want to give it
how recurring HR issues are handled so fewer of them keep returning as fires
how much of the work follows you into your evenings, energy, and life outside HR
what needs to change for this career to remain sustainable for you
The goal is not to make you better at tolerating the current design.
It is to help you create one that fits better.
A Place to Think With People Who Get It
HR can be difficult to redesign entirely from inside your own head.
You are already inside the system.
You may be holding information you cannot freely discuss.
And sometimes the same problem has been in front of you for so long that it is hard to see.
The Circle gives you:
perspective from experienced HR leaders
dedicated time to actually work on the issue
thoughtful challenge when your usual assumptions may be keeping you stuck
a confidential place to think without having to explain HR from the beginning
structure for trying something rather than just talking about it
the chance to learn from what other members are testing in their own environments
Someone else may be working on manager ownership.
Another member may be trying to make sense of AI's impact on their team.
Someone may be redesigning an overloaded role.
Someone else may be trying a new approach to a recurring culture problem.
You learn from your own experiments.
And you learn across theirs.
You do not have to figure out every version of this work alone.
This Is Not Another Thing to Find Time For
The Circle meets twice each month.
One session is designed around the real issue you are carrying now.
The other gives us space to look at what happened after you tried something different and decide what needs refinement.
The work happens in the room.
You are not expected to leave with another pile of assignments.
You are not buying a giant library of content you may never get through.
You are creating protected space to work on the parts of HR leadership that are otherwise easy to keep postponing until they become heavier.
Bring the problem. Try the shift. Come back and refine it.
The HR Redesign Circle Benefits
-
See more clearly
Step out of the latest urgent situation long enough to see the pattern underneath it.
-
Design around you
Work with your strengths, values, judgment, energy, role, and real-life needs rather than someone else's formula for leadership.
-
Apply it while it matters
Use what you discover on the situations you are actually navigating now instead of saving good ideas for someday.
-
Refine as things change
See what worked, what did not, and what needs to shift as the people, pressures, and organization evolve.
-
Do it with people who understand HR
Think alongside other HR leaders who understand the complexity without needing the confidential details. Because HR should not have to feel quite so lonely.
An Invitation to Redesign How HR Is Experienced
Starting with you.
The broader vision for the HR Redesign Circle is a living design space where HR leaders can continually adapt how they lead as the work, workplace, and their own lives evolve.
Before opening that Circle more broadly, I am inviting a small group of HR leaders to become its founding members.
Together, we will test what actually helps experienced HR leaders:
evolve with changing HR demands without simply adding more
carry real responsibility without absorbing every outcome
spot recurring patterns before they become the next fire
use their strengths without being consumed by them
supplement the areas that do not come naturally
adapt as their roles and organizations change
protect what matters outside of work
stay connected to the parts of HR that still feel meaningful
Founding members will help shape the design questions, tools, session rhythm, and practices that make the Circle genuinely useful.
The Leadership Design Circle is where design becomes a living practice, & relief comes with each step.
Because HR leadership should not keep using your life as overflow storage.
A lot of HR leaders can keep functioning for a long time inside a role that costs too much.
That does not mean it is working.
The Circle exists for the season when leadership feels important, complex, and heavier than it should, and you want a better way to carry it.
Not by caring less.
Not by becoming a different person.
By redesigning what has quietly accumulated in one place.
This is where HR leaders come to carry less, lead better, and build a way of leading that supports life instead of consuming it.
